High winds and thin, high clouds

Extended window for corn snow observed at Carson Pass today. Although ambient temps were mild, the wind and clouds kept snow surfaces from becoming too soft. Slopes sheltered from the wind held just an inch of soft snow on the surface. Slopes exposed to the wind remained firm but edgeable. Most surfaces had some decent pre-storm texture that could help promote bonding. Many cornices around Forestdale have already fallen, with small debris piles under them.
