Wet Loose Avalanches on Andesite

What little refreeze occurred last night had already gotten soft by 10 am on the E aspects of Andesite Peak. We sank into ankle-deep snow when we stepped off our skis at the start of our tour. We could feel more than 2 feet of wet unconsolidated snow under the surface when we probed deeper into the snowpack. By 10:30-11 am, we would sink into 4-6 inches of wet snow while on our skis. We chose to stay on lower-angle terrain except for ski cutting above a few small test slopes. Those ski cuts triggered several D1 wet loose avalanches on E and NE aspects between 10:45 and 11:15 am.
