High Intensity Snowfall and Strong Winds at Deer Park

We went to Deer Park to monitor the storm and look at any developing storm snow instabilities.  Total settled storm snow in this area from Tuesday Feb 21 to today was near 6 feet (170cm).  Travel through this deep snow was severely limited on the up and the down.  We had some minor localized cracking while breaking trail showing some shallow instabilities.  We dug a snowpit to look at the recent storm snow and the Feb 21 old snow interface that has shown some signs of instability over the past few days.  The Feb 21 old snow surface is a melt freeze crust with some near crust facets.  Snowpack test results showed weakness at this layer with a DTV and a DT10 SC.  We did not see or observe any other signs of instability today, but visibility and distance traveled was very limited.
