Tamarack Observation

Tahoe Mountain School AIARE Level 2 toured in the Tamarack area today. We found great skiing low angle pow in the trees and touchy avalanche conditions on wind loaded test slopes. On several small test slopes near a ridge we were able to trigger small wind slab avalanches that stepped down into the old snow. This was repeated on two different test slopes with the largest crown (not pictured) stretching about twenty feet across which was essentially the entire width of that test slope.
