Snow pit from Rubicon

We went to ring in the New Year on a tour on Rubicon Peak. The storm dropped an impressive amount of snow in a very short period of time. At 7150' ft. ski pen was 44 cm and the new snow was estimated to be 77cm deep. At 8000 ft I dug a pit to investigate the new storm snow. See attached snow pilot. New storm snow was 130 CM with a thick rain crust and very wet snow beneath. We were fortunate not to have to break trail on the way up. Taking a few steps off of the skin track no sudden collapses were observed but the ski pen was truly impressive. At around 8400' ft the east wind made its presence known. Wind-blowing snow was observed along ridgelines with some scouring. The ski quality was great!
