Consistent Storm Slab in Echo Peak Trees

Skied the trees on north side of the traditional echo peak skintrack ridge. Transitioned to descent in the trees short of the summit to descend. About a third of the way down, started to consistently trigger cracking around skis, and some movement small blockes at a pretty defined layer within the new storm snow. At one point, I stopped at the top of a rollover and triggered a small D1 storm slab about 6-8 inches deep. Moving snow was fist hard and not very cohesive, so it was relatively harmless. I was struck by how planar the bed surface was, so it wasn't just point release slough. This is the most touchy and consistent storm slab behavior I've experienced. At the ridge level with Angora lakes, we stopped noticing the storm slab behavior perhaps with a change in aspect or elevation.
