Snowpit from Little Truckee Summit at Bear Meadows

We snowmobiled to Bear Meadows from Little Truckee Summit via Meadow Lake Rd. Obscure sky and S-1 snow fall with light winds much of the day. 12:45 pm at 8,200ft on a west aspect we recorded a total snow depth of 450cm. New storm snow dept was recorded at 95cm. Boot Pen was 87cm. 0-95cm new snow particles -fist.  95-97cm was the existing snow crust with pencil hardness. 98-120cm Rounds with 4 finger.  CTM  BRK at 35cm and a  CTH SP at 45cm. ECTNM at 35cm and ECTNH at 45cm. On steep test slopes we triggered small wind slab slides 8-12cm. We also observed small D1 recent natual wind slab avalanches on nesar 35 deg slopws.
