Powderhouse

The high winds have done a number on the peak area of Powderhouse Peak. Open areas are devoid of any powder snow and consists of a hard crust. The trees have hardly any snow left on them, whereas they were laden down with snow a week ago. The cornices on the ridge are very large. Breakable crust, about 20 cm deep, is on the leeward N/NW side of the ridge/peak and it persists at least 200 vertical feet down. The snow then changes to somewhat heavy powder.
