Propagating Pit Results on N slope

Dug a pit in the Gondola Fire Burn Scar, trying to target the buried surface hoar/graupel/rimed precip particles layer, that is suspected as the failure plane in several Carson Range avalanches from 1/19. I found this layer buried about 60 cm in this location, which was rapidly being crossloaded by the moderate to strong E winds. Here, the layer appeared comprised of rounding surface hoar, needles, graupel, and some other precip particles. I had a clean failure on this layer in a CT, and failure with energetic propagation in an ECT, both at 11 taps. This location may be an outlier due to the density and stiffness of the slab overlying the weak layer, but it certainly bears watching.
