Previous Wind Scouring and Soft Snow on Stoney Ridge

We went to Stoney Ridge on the West Shore to look for how much wind scouring has occurred at lower elevation terrain and to try and find some soft snow.  Recent strong to gale force NE winds have scoured all exposed areas leaving wind textured snow, hard wind slabs, and generally poor looking snow conditions.  On Northerly wind protected terrain below 8000', mostly consistent soft snow was found in this area.  We saw no signs of instability while traveling today, but did get an ECTP-24 on a hard wind slab along the upper ridgeline at 8200'.  Sun crusts are forming on southerly aspects with a variety of snow surfaces found on most other aspects.  Today was much warmer in the backcountry with less NE wind than what occurred on Sunday and Monday.
