Quick Observations on Incline Peak

Travel was efficient with generally right-side-up surface snow in the Incline Peak zone this morning albeit a bit dense underfoot while skiing. Three quick compression tests revealed multiple failure planes within the upper 3 feet of the snowpack but no results on the Jan 4 rain crust. No cracking, collapsing, or whumphing observed. SW winds moving snow along ridgelines.

Compression Test Results:

HS = 252cm

Jan 4 Rain Crust = 181cm

CT 7 @ 243cm PC (x2)

CT 11 @ 233cm RP (x2 – two loading steps)

CT 14 @ 219cm RP (x2 – one loading step – rimed grains?)

CT 18 @ 206cm Q3

CT 18 @ 160cm Q3 (near bottom of 3 thin crusts in pit wall – top @ 181cm assumed Jan 4)
