Wind slabs and buried weak layers

Very windy day at Blue Lakes today, with active wind transport observed throughout the whole day and all elevations traveled. In less windy areas, there was a 1" layer of wind blown snow over the surface hoar observed on the surface here yesterday. In more windy areas, I could no longer find the same surface hoar. Wind loaded test slopes did fail, but just on the density change under the wind slab. At three locations, I found a very thin crust/facet layer that was the failure layer for three ECTs. This layer was a little closer to the surface in the area we rode today, compared to yesterday where the overall snowpack was deeper.
