More detailed information about the avalanche:

Many recent avalanches occurred off of Donner Peak and the surrounding area.  Most thought to be naturally triggered although some are unknown.  Elevation range of 7000' to 7800', on N-NE-E aspects.  Some of the crowns and debris were covered up by storm snow indicating that they occurred sometime during the storm yesterday.  Others at lower elevation had more loose wet avalanche characteristics and probably occurred during the rain event at the end of the storm.  Rain runnels up to 7200'.
