Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:
Stability tests performed on Deep Creek Peak on a north facing slope, 7726', 38 degree slope, HS=65cm.  1 CTV-unrepeatable.  1 CT 20, 1 CT 21, 1 ECT 14-all sudden collapse on 10/19 faceted layer.  PST 28/100 END down 64cm on 10/19 facet layer.  Weak faceted layer from October still present and reactive at this location.  All stability tests indicate that propagation is likely if initiation were to occur. The mid and upper snowpack have considerable strength and seems unlikely that a skier could trigger this layer although that cannot be ruled out if one were to trigger the right spot on the right piece of terrain.  Low avalanche danger does not mean no avalanche danger, use good terrain selection and travel techniques.
