More detailed information about the snowpack:

Afternoon observations on Incline Lake Peak showed less warming instability than expected. A few small natural roller-balls did occur on a SE facing slope near 9000' below a cliff band. On a more easterly facing slope, the upper 8 inches of snow had warmed up enough to become heavy and moist up to about 9000'. This recent snow sat on top of a 5-6 inch frozen crust. A layer of water was pooling at the interface between this crust and the snow above it. On the more north facing shaded slopes, about 8 inches of new, soft, unconsolidated snow remained on top of the snow surface. In this area hand pits and ski cuts indicated that this new snow has bonded well to the old snow surface and that it remained cold and dry.
