Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Surface snow conditions ranged from wet to melt freeze (frozen phase) to cold snow not affected by melt freeze. At 9:00 am N-NE aspects below 7,000' had 3 inches of wet surface snow with evidence of minimal overnight refreeze in shaded areas. Wet surface snow continued up to 7,800' on all aspects. Above 8,200', cold snow not affected by melt freeze existed on N-NE aspects up to the summit at 9,100'. Descending the E aspect avalanche path yielded supportable true corn conditions of 1 to 2 inches of wet snow grains on top of frozen supportable snow between 8,200' and 9,000'. Below 8,200', the surface snow became increasingly wet but remained supportable while on skis but without the layer of frozen snow below the wet surface snow. Max boot pen of 15cm at 6,900' observed at 10:45am.
