Photo: NE side of Silver Peak. Above and below treeline slopes with exposure to NE winds in this area have been heavily scoured. Wind protected slopes near treeline hold supportable stable wind slab over facets. Wind protected below treeline slopes hold a shallow faceted snowpack generally without any overlying slab.
