More detailed information about the snowpack:

Very shallow snowpack on most slopes in this area. The large rocks, trees, stumps, logs and other anchors protruded all the way through the snowpack in several places. Only small disconnected areas snow cover existed on the slopes. The snowpack continues to facet at all levels. What was once an ice layer at the bottom of the snowpack is now rotting away. All of the crusts that have formed this fall are also decomposing into facets. What was once a slab above the Nov 18th facets has become a weak unconsolidated layer that is no longer a slab layer.
