More detailed information about the snowpack:

Around 42 cm (16.5 inches) of settlement has occurred in this area on north aspects at 8,000' of the past 5 days. A strong and stable snowpack currently exists in this area. Faceting below the surface melt freeze crust is minor at this time. No faceting was observed near the basal rain layer.

At the same time, the snow surface on northerly aspects in the same elevation range remained frozen at -2C.
