Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

6-8 inches of soft snow existed above the rain crust on the northerly aspects of Rubicon Peak today. Below the rain crust a thin layer of weak sugary snow resides. Snowpit data collected today indicated that this layer of facets and the crust above it continue to weaken. The 6-8 inches of snow above these layers still did not display any slab properties in non wind affected areas. Some small wind slabs had formed near the ridgeline on the near treeline leeward slopes. Ski cuts on wind loaded test slopes only resulted in a few small isolated cracks today. Due to a lack of northeast winds and no wind transport of the soft surface snow, no significant wind slabs had formed on the near treeline W-SW aspects.
