More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Pic: Highly variable weather at Luther Pass today. Generally calm winds with moderate NW gusts and brief periods of obscurred skies with snow showers of 3mm graupel and rimed PPs.

Pit: Low elevation profile shows continued propagation potential on December PWLs, though snow above remains quite strong. NSFs from recent cold, clear weather do not show continued temperature gradient. Potential for faceting just above and below recent rain crust buried by cold, low density snow. Very large vertical ice columns observed below recent rain crust (not shown in pit profile).
