More detailed information about the snowpack:

Toured into Mt. Rose Wilderness today.  A mixed bag of snow surface conditions exist:  firm windboard on all N-E aspects at upper exposed elevations, mid elevation N-E aspects were a mix of supportable and breakable crusts, lower elevations and protected terrain still had some good unconsolidated snow.  South aspects below 9000' had ski supportable crusts that warmed in the mid day and provided good skiing.  Throughout the day and at my snow pit location everything pointed to very good stability in this area.

Photo #1 and #2:  Wind scouring of upper elevation snow surface from recent wind events.

Photo #3:  3-4mm surface hoar around Incline Lake.  Surface hoar was mainly below 9000' in protected areas.
