Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Snowpit and video: Very weak sugary grains both above and below January rain crust. These grains are too deep for mitt pits, but probing showed them to be widespread in this area. ECTs collapsed the facets above the crust, but did not propagate. The facets below the crust are larger and weaker, and PSTs did show propagation potential on this layer. (in video I said Saturday when I meant to say Friday)

Pic: Early stage settlement cones. No evidence of storm slab instability, and settlement has not yet produced strong enough slab above the facets to be an issue in this area.
