More detailed information about the snowpack:

The Mt. Rose area was not favored with this last storm system, there was 3-4'' of new snow with up to 6-8'' in the most wind loaded locations.  Minor cracking was limited to the most wind loaded locations on the ridgeline.  Ski cuts, ski kicks and cornice drops did not produce any instability in these small wind slabs that had formed.  Some stability tests still showed weakness in the basal facet layer and that this layer could be of concern if/when another large storm arrives.

Photos:  Ski kicks and cornice drops on the East Ridge produced no results on small wind slabs.  9300', north aspect, 35 degree terrain.
