More detailed information about the snowpack:

Photograph 1: Evidence of snowpack settlement due to yesterday's rain and continued mild temperatures.

Photograph 2: Fracture (CTM SP) plane within the basal facets/rain crust.  This structure was only 5 cm off the ground.  Could not get this to fracture with ECT (3x). Column test wall HS = 100 cm.

Strong, supportable rain crust above 8800 feet or so, below that, deep, wet, unconsolidated surface snows.  Basal grains exhibit areas of strong, frozen structure and areas of unfrozen, weak, and unconsolidated structure.  The entire snow profile is moist; some evidence of free water pooling on surface in low angle areas near ridge crest.  Some wet point releases around cliff bands and steep rocks.
