More detailed information about the snowpack: 

The snowpack in this area continues to shrink with only the northerly aspects still holding much snow. The Dec. 7th facets remain weak and remain buried in the the snowpack on these northerly aspects. However, for the first time in almost a month I did not observe any signs of instability in this area. No skier triggered cracking or whumpfing occurred, and all of my tests results indicated that fractures are unlikely to travel very far through the persistent weak layer. This seeming increase in stability coincides with a decrease of snow cover and finding places to recreate on the snow without hitting rocks or stepping over bare ground is becoming increasingly difficult.
