Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Observations and data indicated that the recent snow is bonding well to the old snow surfaces and to itself in this area. Snowpit data and tests also revealed that old persistent weak layer at the base of the snowpack seems to be getting stronger in this area. Overall snowpit tests did not reveal any signs of lingering instabilities. In sheltered near and below treeline terrain the east winds had not affected the snow and the recent snow remained soft, cold, and unconsolidated. In above treeline areas evidence of some scouring existed on the N-NE aspects and small hard wind slabs had formed on the W-SW aspects. Ski cuts on tests slopes facing W and SW did not produce any cracking or wind slab failures. Some very minor wind transport was still occurring at 3:30 pm. Plumes of blowing snow were visible across the Lake along the Sierra Crest.
