Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Limited snow coverage exists in this area below 7200 ft on all aspects and on sun exposed aspects up to 8000 ft. On the more shaded northerly aspects, 50 to 80 cm of snow exists above 7200 ft. and provides decent coverage. The 12/23 snow remains soft and unconsolidated on sheltered northerly aspects. On more sun exposed aspects a breakable sun crusts existed in some places while wet sticky surface snow existed in other places. Below the surface, a variety of weak layers exists around the 12/15 rain crust. In most areas, a near crust facet layer exists between the rain crust and the 12/23 snow. In some areas, a layer of buried surface hoar rests on top of the near crust facet layer. In other areas, another layer of loose weak snow exists just below the 12/15 rain crust. Snowpit tests in several locations on N-NE aspects between 7200 and 7800 ft. indicated that these persistent weak layers remain weak and that the weight of a person on the snow above them may still be enough to break these layers in some places. Along the top of the ridge, SW winds were transporting minor amounts of snow during the afternoon.  These winds also exposed the 12/15 rain crust in some places.
