Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

30-40cm of recent storm snow on top of the 1/29 rain crust.  NE winds last night and through today have scoured most exposed N-NE-E aspects near and above treeline.  Some of these areas are scoured back down to the 1/29 rain crust and very firm.  SE-S-SW-W aspects near treeline and above had wind deposited snow up to 1' deep with some localized cracking.  Protected areas from the NE winds have unconsolidated snow with good travel.

Photo#1:  NE winds transporting lots of snow over to SE-S-SW-W aspects.

Photo#2:  On SE-S-SW aspects in this area there was 40cm of freshly wind loaded snow.  This will be available snow for when the winds change back directions.

Photo#3:  Firm rain crusts exist in exposed areas that have been scoured by the NE winds.
