More detailed information about the snowpack:

Very warm temps throughout the day with no signs of an overnight refreeze occurring at this location.  Air temperatures in the high 40's at our pit location above 9000' in the mid morning hours.  Spring like snow surface conditions existed in some exposed solar aspects at upper elevations.  Down lower these conditions turned into punchy snow conditions with some small loose wet avalanches occurring on steeper rollovers.  Similar snow surface conditions existed here as in other areas throughout the forecast region.  3-4'' of wet surface snow on top of colder dryer snow on top of rain crust.  On northerly shaded aspects there are pockets of good unconsolidated snow mixed in with many areas of variable and sticky snow conditions at all elevations. No signs of instability were noted on northerly aspects. Attached pit is from 39.29856,-119.94217.
