More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Firm surface snow this morning in Negro Canyon. Between 10:00 and 11:00 am surface began to soften down to about 3 cm on E and S aspects at 6800'.  By 1:00 pm surface melt freeze crust had melted all the way through and was becoming unsportable on South aspects.  On small test slopes skier triggered roller balls were seen. Winds stayed light in the valley and was slightly stronger on ridge tops.
