Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Went back to Slab Cliffs area to examine progression of near surface facets since the last visit mid day on Dec 16, only to find that the significant wind scouring event that occurred on the night of Dec 16 had removed much of the near surface facets. This was the case both above and below treeline, top to bottom in the northerly aspect bowl. Highly variable snow surface conditions existed in the bowl, mostly breakable crust and dense wind scoured surfaces. Snowpit data collected today in the lower protions of the bowl showed an overall strong snowpack than had been observed in the upper avalanche start zone portions of the bowl on Dec 16.
