More detailed information about the snowpack:

Heavy rain during the morning hours, exceeding forecast expectations gave way to light to moderate rain during the late morning and early afternoon hours. Skier supportable conditions existed at all elevations traveled between Red Lake at 7,800' and the summit of Elephant's Hump at 9,000'. Rain runnels up to 1 foot deep existed below 8,800' to 8,900' with a smooth snow surface above. The combination of deep runnels and supportable conditions gave indications of established snowpack drainage. Signs of several inches of settlement of the Feb 6/7 storm snow were noted around trees.

Ski cuts on steep test slopes produced some large roller balls. Signs of some wet loose instability were visible on the E aspect of Elephant's Back. The crown and debris of a recent wet slab avalanche were visible below Frog Lake (see separate observation).
