Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack: 

Snow cover of around 1.2 to 1.5 m (4 to 5 feet) existed in this area between 6,400' and 7,100' on NW-N-NE-E aspects traveled. Very early stage, poorly developed near crust facets were observed on top of the Jan 12 rain crust. Snowpit tests revealed no signs of instability on this potential developing weak layer. This layer would be limited to elevations below about 7,500'. Foggy conditions did not seem to appreciably affect the snow surface conditions in this area today between 6,400' and 7,100'.
