More detailed information about the snowpack: 

South aspects above 6800' had a firm supportable crust at 3pm.   All other elevations and aspects W SW S SE E on our tour up to 7200' had a breakable crust.  Winds were moderate from the south and by 3:30 precipitation started in the form of graupel.
