Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

About 100cm TD existed in protected tree areas. Settlement cones/cracks became more prevalent throughout the day. Observed a few localized areas of whoomphing early on. snow pit dug in the morning to dirt on treed east facing slope about 8700 ft revealed some storm slab instability Ct-12 resistant planar down 20 cm.  Ect-N22 down about 40cm appeared to fail on small layer of grauple within new storm snow. No formal tests resulted in failure of basal facet layer or new/old snow interface, however the "chugach kick" after formal tests was sufficient enough to overload the October basal facets resulting in the entire snowpack failing.  Low risk, high consequence conditions kept us to low angle slopes below tree line.
