More detailed information about the snowpack:

Around 6 inches of snow at pass level, quickly increasing to over a foot above 6,900'. The snowpack in this area is fairly dense and skier supportable. The top half inch (1 cm) of surface snow was wetted by light rain up to and above the highpoint of travel at 7,700'. No natural wet snow roller balls were observed, but roller balls involving the surface wet snow were easily human triggered. Some previous wind loading close to the ridgetop. Thin (3 in thick) wind slab existed in the upper snowpack in lee areas near ridgelines. No signs of current wind slab instability observed.
