More detailed information about the snowpack:

Corn conditions existed today on SE-S-SW aspects on Carson Pass with skier supportable conditions lasting until mid day. On SE-S-SW aspects, recent storm snow has transitioned into homogenous wet snow above a rain crust that provided the needed skier supportability.

The upper snowpack on E aspects had not fully transitioned to a melt-freeze regime. On E aspects surface wet snow was separated from the rain crust below it by a few inches of recent storm snow that had yet to undergo melt. This recent storm snow below the surface wet snow allowed for skier triggered roller balls to occur (photo) and indicated potential loose wet problems during the mid day hours and afternoon hours.
