Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Pit from profile was dug at 8500'.  Snow was moist to wet and fist-hard near the surface, and facet layer was moist. Facet layer did not fail during CTs or ECT; PST scored 90/100 End down 46cm.

A quick pit was dug at 8880', on a NNE aspect. A CT and ECT failed within the Jan. 8 storm snow (CTM RP down 15cm  and ECTN 11 down 15cm). Additional taps during a CT caused a failure in the facet layer, down 68cm, but a PST scored PST 90/100 End down approximately 65cm.

Another quick pit at 9200' on a NE aspect showed firmer wind deposited layers close to the surface which failed in CTs and an ECT. (CTE SP down 9cm and ECTP 14 down 22cm) A PST through the facet layer scored PST 50/100 End down 65cm.

Ski cuts on unsupported slopes (e.g., above the pit test walls) did not produce any shooting cracks. No whumpfing or other signs of propagating slab instability observed.

West winds increased through the afternoon and caused light to moderate blowing snow at upper elevations (>8900').
