Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Up to 2'' of new snow in this area overnight.  Surface snow was wet at all elevations with sticky snow below 8800'.  Many small roller balls were observed off of rocks in steeper terrain.  Some small loose wet avalanches were intentionally triggered on small test slopes with ski cuts.  Where near surface facets existed, these surface facets are now wet and clumpy.  This was also the case for facets fairly close to the snow surface under a thin slab (snowpit 2). Where facets exist below the snow surface under a thicker slab and/or crusts, these facets are somewhat protected from the recent rain and warm temperatures.  Dry to moist facets were found to produced consistent unstable test results (snowpit 1).
