More detailed information about the snowpack: 

A firm, frozen snow surface existed on all aspects of Rose Knob Peak early this morning. Last night's clear skies and below freezing air temperatures allowed the strongest overnight refreeze in the last several days. The frozen snow extended down to 3 inches below the snow surface at 7600 ft on a shaded SE aspect. Underneath that supportable 3 in. thick refrozen crust wet snow still existed. By 10:30 am the surface snow on the sun-exposed E-SE-S-SW aspects up to 9700 ft. had softened enough to provide 2-4 inches of soft "corn" conditions all the way down to 7400ft. the shaded areas remained frozen. The snow on the northerly aspects above 9000 ft. remained dry and unaffected by the melt-freeze cycles. On the exposed slopes the snow surface on these high elevation northerly aspects was a mix of wind scoured surfaces and hard wind-packed surfaces.
