Snowpit Observations
More detailed information about the snowpack:

Spring like conditions in this area today with air temperatures at 8,200' well above freezing (+9 C). Wet snow represented the top 1-2 cm in most areas with moist snow below. Boot penetration of up to 75 cm was noted in wind protected below treeline areas. The snowpack in many areas at 8,200' was over 2 m deep while 1,000' lower at 7,200', less than 30 cm of snow exists with bare spots in many areas.

Despite strong to gale force ridgetop winds, no blowing snow was visible. Wind speeds in valleys were light.

No new wet snow instability was visible on solar aspects above treeline on surrounding peaks, having already run its course earlier this week.
