These observations document past conditions at a small and variable scale. They are not to be confused with an avalanche forecast. They come from a variety of sources. We can only vouch for the quality of those produced by the SAC forecasters and professional observers.

Looking west from Waterhouse

Stellars still intact on the surface on the north face of Waterhouse, no signs of surface hoar starting to form.looking across at "Shower chutes" I could see large broken cornice chunks and debris piles across most of ridge line. Starting lookers right in the sun and continuing all the way across lookers left to the peak and continuing down the other-side. No signs of a triggered avalanche from the weight of the cornice on the slope underneath. Probably occurred in the early morning when the sun was on it.    Wind effected ridge. Strong west wind loading east aspect.Over hanging cornices forming at the bottom of the picture along the ridge line. Public
