These observations document past conditions at a small and variable scale. They are not to be confused with an avalanche forecast. They come from a variety of sources. We can only vouch for the quality of those produced by the SAC forecasters and professional observers.

Mount Rose Area 		A ski cut on this ridgeline test slope triggered a ~8-12 inch deep wind slab Large cornices existed along the summit ridgeline Ski kicks did not trigger any cracking on this test slope until it was undercut. Then ski kicks could trigger shooting cracks. Settlement cracks existed around trees in more sheltered terrain. A Test pit from a N aspect below treeline slope sheltered from the wind.
